BOSTON -- A Braintree man has been identified as the leader of a multimillion-dollar sports betting operation in Boston and on the South Shore that used an off-shore website to track bets.

Dominic Santoro, 62, of Quincy and Marston Mills is accused of being the leader of a gambling ring that allegedly operated in Boston and on the South Shore between June and October last year. He is charged with organizing a gambling ring, using a telephone to register bets, placing bets and conspiracy. Santoro could not immediately be reached.
